9:17 am on 12 May 2007

Fiji Military's has been in discussions with Fiji International Telecommunications Limited or FINTEL reportedly to block access within the country to various freedom blogs.

Military spokesman Major Neumi Leweni told Fijilive.com that talks have been ongoing but could not say whether the blogs have been blocked.

The Freedom Bloggers claim two military officers were seen at FINTEL yesterday.

They claim the officers were trying to persuade FINTEL management to "pull the plug on our blogs."

FINTEL chief executive Sakaraia Tuilakepa says he was not in the office.

Another executive that Mr Tuilakepa referred Fijilive.com to, Samu Samuta said he was on his way to the Western Division, while Iowane Koroivuki said he had no comment to make.

The blogs have been posting comments which the military have deemed malicious and inciteful.
