Fiji's tourism industry extends discounted offers

Fiji's tourism industry has extended the 40-percent discounts offered to attract visitors back, after travel advisories discouraged them from traveling to Fiji.

The chairman of the Tourism Action Group Damend Goundar, says the 40-percent discount was offered for the immediate recovery process in the aftermath of the military takeover.

He says the extension is because of budget constrains for promotional work, the Public Safety Regulations being still in force and continuing travel advisories against Fiji.

But Mr Goundar concedes that giving away discounts isn't a good way of doing business.
