7:40 am on 31 May 2007

The leader of the Samoa Democratic United Party says corruption within the government is getting worse and he will take the issue to court to put an end to it.

Asiata Sale'imoa Va'ai says there is no separation of power in the five institutions of government, including the head of state, parliament, the executive, the public service commission and the judiciary.

He says he will take the issue to court but is demanding an overseas judge.

"I have no confidence in the judiciary and the chief justice. I have asked them to bring another judge, an overseas judge to preside over the matter and some of the court actions that we are contemplating, we think it will be prejudiced if we file it now before we get some clear indication that we will get an impartial judge from overseas."
