Tonga's police magistrate will decide next week if five People's Representatives facing sedition charges stemming from last year's Nuku'alofa riots will go to the High Court for trial.

Matangi Tonga online website reports that the preliminary inquiry hearing into the charges ended this week with the police magistrate, Peau Pifeleti ruling that a decision will be made on Wednesday.

'Akilisi Pohiva, 'Isileli Pulu, Clive Edwards, 'Uliti Uata and Lepolo Taunisila have been charged with sedition, relating to an incident during a meeting at the Cabinet room on November 16, last year.

A second sedition charge was also levelled at Akilisi Pohiva, Clive Edwards and 'Uliti Uata in relation to speeches they made at Pangai Si'i on November 14 - two days before the riot.
