Fiji police have begun investigations into the deaths of two Chinese men and a Filipino, whose bodies arrived on a fishing vessel from Philippines waters.

The Fiji Times reports that according to the crew of the Taiwanese registered Chien Chang and its agent, the two Chinese men were stabbed to death by the Filipino a day after he joined the vessel on high seas following a transfer from another boat.

There were unconfirmed reports of the crew tying the Filipino up and him hitting his head, but others claimed he inflicted wounds on himself with the same knife that he used to slay the two Chinese.

The incident allegedly occurred in Philippines waters on May 25th after which the vessel sailed directly to Suva.

Fiji police say post mortems are expected to be conducted within the next two days while the captain and crew will be interviewed today.

The vessel will not be allowed to leave Suva until investigations are complete.
