Sacked LBJ Hospital CEO to fight his removal from the Board

9:13 am on 6 June 2007

The removed chief Executive Officer of the LBJ Hospital, Kirk Gray, has declined to submit his resignation as requested by the Hospital Authority Board.

Mr Gray says he is meeting his lawyer today to discuss what action to take to counter his removal

Mr Gray, who has a five year contract with LBJ, was replaced as CEO last week.

He was appointed to the position last August.

Mr Gray said after his removal that he would fight the board's action.

He says he has not had any further contact with the Hospital Authority Board since he was given notice last week and any further discussions would be through his lawyer.

Sources at LBJ said the board decided to remove Mr Gray because it was unhappy over his performance.

Mr Gray says he would respond to every issue that the board raised and strongly disagrees with the reasons given for his removal.
