Part Cook Islander secures 100-thousand US scholarship

The New Zealand based part Cook Islands basketball player Charlie Piho, has scored a 100-thousand US dollar scholarship over four years.

The 21 year old from Epsom who was spotted by coach Auckland coach Theo Tait will head to Bruton Parker University in Alabama.

Piho whose been involved with basketball since he was five says the scholarship is the realisation of a long-standing dream, to play college basketball in the United States and to then, hopefully, make a career in the sport.
