The Solomon Islands Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare, has relaunched the constitutional reform programme with the establishment of a congress to complete the draft of a new national constitution.

Mr Sogavare says the congress will be made up of 32 members representing the provinces, Honiara City and various individuals with the necessary qualities to finalise the reform process.

He says the congress will be assisted by a group of eminent Solomon Islanders who have contributed to the country's social, economic and political development, or people who have technical expertise.

The congress is expected to complete the task and report to cabinet by October next year.
