In first speech Samoa's new Head of State apologises to former political foes

In his first public address Samoa's new Head of State, former prime minister, Tuiatua Tupua Tamasese Efi, has apologised to his former parliamentary colleagues if he ever said anything that was hurtful.

He thanked the ruling Human Rights Protection Party or HRPP for their trust in him despite political differences in the past.

As prime minister and opposition leader Tuiatua had led the Samoa National Development party or SNDP.
