Samoa's new Head of State, Tuiatua Tupua Tamasese, is on a private visit to Auckland which includes a regular medical check-up.

The Samoa Observer reports that doctors have assured Tuiatua that he is in good health.

The paper says Samoans in New Zealand are keen to know how he is faring as the new Head of State.

He was chosen last month to replace Malietoa Tanumafili II who died in May after serving 45 years in the post.
