SPEX to resume inter-Samoa flights

The American Samoa-based airline, South Pacific Express, or SPEX, plans to resume inter-Samoa flights later this week.

At present, Polynesian Airlines is struggling to accommodate the increasing number of travellers between the two Samoas.

SPEX last operated flights to Apia on June 25th and the aircraft was taken out of service because of mechanical problems.

SPEX official Avamua Dave Haleck says the airline will resume flights later this week as the aircraft is undergoing a mandatory two year safety check,

Avamua says the company had initially scheduled this work for the end of the month but with the high demand for the South Pacific Games in Samoa, SPEX decided it was best to complete the check now.
