Power company employees in Papua new Guinea say they plan to sabotage power supply throughout the country at midnight.
About 1,000 employees of PNG Power say they will act over outstanding grievances regarding pay and conditions.
The workers say they know they will be holding the country to ransom, but claim any reproach from the general public regarding power issues or the shutdown will be left to PNG Power management to answer.
A senior PNG Power official has told the Post Courier newspaper that the CEO has told staff that no concessions will be made.
The power shutdown is expected to indirectly affect the national elections in the provinces.
