Samoa athletes get ban on homosexual activities

The leaders for Samoa's team preparing for next month's South Pacific Games have set out rules that include a ban on gay or lesbian activities.

The rules, which have been published in the Samoa Observer newspaper, apply to Samoan competitors within the games village for the duration of the two-week event.

Athletes are advised that they should not embarrass themselves, their families and the country.

A memo says homosexual activities are against the law of God.

However, one sports administrator who did not want to be named told the newspaper that the management has no business in what the athletes do during the games.
