US serviceman makes huge contribution to South Pacific Games

A Samoan Iraq war veteran has made a more than four thousand US dollar donation to next month's South Pacific Games to be hosted by his home country.

The Games website reports the decorated 25-year-old Sergeant Alan Schwenke Tevaga who made the generous donation has served six years with the US military and has completed two tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The airman is currently back in the U.S where his military service will finish next month.

Tevaga's father is from Savaii and his mother from American Samoa
