Papua New Guinea has won its way into next year's Under 19 Cricket World Cup by beating the homeside Vanuatu by 104 runs in an enthralling final of the East Asia -Pacific qualifying tournament in Port Vila yesterday.
PNG batting first was cruising at two for 130 before a low order collapse saw them all out for 207.
In reply, Vanuatu could only manage 103 despite their captain, Andrew Mansale scoring 42.
PNG will now travel to Malaysia in February to compete against 15 other nations in the 2008 Under-19 World Cup.
Fiji finished third and Japan fourth.
However, Fiji and Vanuatu rewrote the ICC under-19 history books during the week long tournament.
Fiji captain Joe Rika who scored 257 off 145 balls moves to the top of the table, with the teams score of 423 equalling that of Australia in first place.
And Vanuatu also set their own record with captain Mansale moving into second spot with his 157, with the side moving into fourth spot with their total of 347.
The records for both sides were set against Japan.
