Two names missing from All Blacks world cup squad

9:25 am on 23 July 2007

Troy Flavell and Piri Weepu are the two big names that have been ommitted from the All Blacks Rugby World Cup squad announced at the weekend.

Canterbury half back Andy Ellis has been favoured over Weepu and flanker Sione Lauaki has been brought in for Flavell.

There are no other real surprises in the 29 man squad.

The selectors will name one additional player before August 14, which gives Canterbury prop Greg Somerville the chance to recover from injury to take the final spot.

Two recent All Blacks, locks Jason Eaton and James Ryan, were not considered for selection due to injury.

The full team is:

Dan Carter, Jerry Collins, Andrew Ellis, Nick Evans, Carl Hayman, Andrew Hore, Doug Howlett, Chris Jack, Byron Kelleher, Sione Lauaki, Brendon Leonard, Luke McAlister, Richie McCaw, Leon MacDonald, Chris Masoe, Aaron Mauger, Keven Mealamu, Malili Muliaina, Anton Oliver, Keith Robinson, Joe Rokocoko, Sitiveni Sivivatu, Conrad Smith, Rodney So'oialo, Reuben Thorne, Neemia Tialata, Isaia Toeava, Ali Williams, Tony Woodcock.
