Three companies pursuing business opportunities in American Samoa

Three companies will pursue joint venture opportunities with investors that are planning to set up in American Samoa.

David Robinson, the President of American Samoa's Chamber of Commerce, says the businesses are water bottling, manufacturing of airport handling equipment and a mattress manufacturer.

The mattress maker is a Fijian company while the other two are from New Zealand.

Mr Robinson said the potential local partners are now trying to get the projects past the drawing board stage.

He said the only deterrents from the investors perspective are the high corporate tax, and dividend withholding and the import duty on equipment.
