The King of Tonga is celebrating his birthday on a new day - August 1.
The Matangi Tonga online reports the King's real birthday is on May 4, but since he became king last year, he decreed that his birthday would be changed to August 1.
King George Tupou V will celebrate his 59th birthday tomorrow, which has become a public holiday in Tonga.
A number of dignitaries are in Tonga for the king's birthday, including Samoa's Head of State, the Korean Ambassador to Tonga, and the British High Commissioner to Tonga.
