Chinese investors due in Niue

A delegation of Chinese investors is due in Niue next week to look at business opportunities on the island.

It follows a visit to China by Niue Premier, Young Vivian, in June during which he secured aid assistance and encouraged investors to visit the island.

He says the visitors will be investigating the feasibility of building a 100 room hotel on Niue's north coast.

The Premier says there is nothing definite yet with land still to be obtained, but other potential areas for investment will be looked at.

"They are looking at land in terms of agriculture, also in terms of manufacturing, also fisheries and also they are looking at the wharf and the airport."

Mr Vivian says the airport is in need of a major upgrade to bring it up to international standard.
