Senator in American Samoa calls for government to dismantle TOFR

A senator in American Samoa is calling to dismantle the government's Territorial Office of Fiscal Reform, or TOFR, which currently exists by executive order.

The request was made yesterday by Senator Tuitele Tony Tuitele, who has asked the Senate President for a resolution to ask the governor to close it.

Tuitele says he believes TOFR's responsibilities are conflicting with those being carried out by other agencies such as the Department of Public Works.

The Senate President has told Tuitele to initiate a resolution and present it to the Senate for discussion.
