Nauru's new parliament has re-elected Ludwig Scotty as president.
A spokeswoman for the Nauru government says Mr Scotty secured 14 votes in the 18-member parliament to defeat presidential contender Marcus Stephen.
This comes three days after Mr Scotty's pro-reform government secured a strong majority in the general election.
14 parliamentarians were returned to office, including all government ministers.
Two of those who failed to be re-elected were people who had opposed Mr Scotty and his strict economic policies.
