Joint venture plan for inter-Samoan flights called off

The owner of the American Samoan airline, South Pacific Express, says it was by mutual agreement that joint venture talks between SPEX and Polynesian Airlines of Samoa were brought to a halt.

Avamua Dave Haleck says they saw the joint venture as a win-win situation for both airlines however the Polynesian board did not see it that way.

He says the discontinuation of talks with Polynesian will have no impact on SPEX's commitment to stay in the airline business.

Avamua said that SPEX is concentrating on serving the inter Samoa market and is not eyeing any other routes at this stage.

He added that the South Pacific Games has generated a lot of traffic for SPEX and it has been a very busy time for the airline.
