Bollywood movies on show in Fiji film festival next year

2:09 pm on 11 September 2007

Bollywood and Pacific fiction and documentaries will be on show during a week-long film festival in Fiji in February.

The festival is to be co-organised by the Fiji Audio Visual Commission, the Fiji Visitor's Bureau, the Trade and Investment Bureau and un-named investors from Dubai.

The chair of the audio visual commission and the film festival, Richard Broadbridge, says the festival has three main objectives.

"One is to promote the local industry. Secondly to get producers who aren't able to showcase their films in larger film festivals to launch their films in the Fiji Film Festival. And thirdly, of course, is to promote Fiji as a fantastic tourist destination."

Richard Broadbridge expects the movies will be shown in Suva, as well as in a number of island resorts.
