All payments to the American Samoa Legislature have been stopped due to an overrun in the Fono's budget for fiscal year 2007 that ends on Sept. 30th
The Samoa News reports that Fono invoices including payroll will not be paid until funds can be located to cover them.
The newspaper says the action is necessary because the Fono is over $150,000 in the red.
Samoa News says the Fono's budget is set at $6.04 million but as of last week it had spent $6.17 million.
