The prime minister of Samoa has called on members of the Secretariat of Pacific Regional Environment Programme to pay their dues to allow SPREP to continue its work.

Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi made the call in an address to the officials' meeting being held in Apia.

The prime minister says problems seen 15 years ago are still with the region and in some cases they have worsened.

Tuilaepa says SPREP's work has produced resukts but he says its funding needs to be assured.

"I am informed that it would be of great help to SPREP if members' assessed contributions are paid up on time."
