The Internal Audit Department in the Solomon Islands Ministry of Finance and Treasury is continuing investigations into a USD$35,000 payment by the Treasury to Pacifica Travel Centre.

The payment was for air tickets for athletes and government officials to attend the Samoa Pacific Games, however the payment was made without any bookings being made with the travel agent.

The Permanent Secretary of Finance, Luma Darcy has confirmed investigations are currently under way into the payment but refused to comment further.

The Solomon Islands Government provided almost one-million US dollars for the country's 310 athletes and officials to participate in the Samoa Games.
