The American Samoa Senate has passed the second reading of the the fiscal year 2008 budget after reallocating $600,000 from the Special Programmes category to the Fono, increasing the Fono's budget from $5.9 to $6.5 million.

The amendments made by the Senate don't alter the final total budget of $304.37 million.

The senators merely shifted funding from other categories around so that the Fono would get more money in the new fiscal year that begins on Oct. 1st

The budget goes through its third and final reading today .

If passed it then goes to the House where lawmakers are still conducting

budget review hearings.
