New figures show there has been a 25 percent increase in teenage pregnancies in American Samoa in the past five years.
A report by the American Samoa Coalition for Teen Pregnancy Prevention and the Family Planning Programme says American Samoa has the second highest pregnancy rate among girls between the ages of 15 and 19 in the Pacific.
In 1996 seven percent of all babies born that year were to teenage women.
In the latest figures, from 2006, nine percent of births were to teen mothers.
Of the 111 babies born to teenage mothers last year, the vast majority were to girls aged between 16 and 19.
