Fiji's Public Service Commission suspends another civil servant

Fiji's Public Service Commission has suspended another civil servant - the second in two weeks - for blogging on an anti-government website.

The Fiji Sun reports that last week the commission suspended one of its clerical officers for posting negative comments on the interim government on anti-government blog-sites.

Now the commission's permanent secretary, Taina Tagicakibau, has confirmed the suspension of a senior officer with the ministry of the finance who is facing disciplinary charges for the same offence.

She says civil servants must be apolitical and those who wish to engage in anti-government activities must resign immediately.

Ms Tagicakibau says it is not for civil servants to go around criticising the government of the day but to serve the people of Fiji .
