The Solomon Islands MP for West Are'are in Malaita Province, the late Sir David Kausimae will be honoured today with a state funeral.
Sir David's body will lay in state at Parliament later this morning for MP's, dignitaries and the public before being taken to the South Sea Evangelical central Church for funeral service.
On Saturday, the Governor General, Sir Nathaniel Waena, the Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and members of the sports fraternity paid tribute to Sir David's contribution to the country's development.
Sir Nathaniel told those present that amongst Sir David's achievements as a pioneer politician was the establishment of Solomon Taiyo company, now Soltai Fishing and Processing, and the Solomon Islands Plantations now Guadalcanal Plains Plantation.
