American Samoa Senate committee to consider ban on Chinese imports

The Senate Public Safety Committee in American Samoa will meet Thursday to hear government testimony on the territorial government's proposed ban on all imports from China.

The goverment Toy Recall Task Force, established last month, is already working on alerting the public about the various toys manufactured in China that have been recalled.

The Senate committee wants to hearing testimony from the task force as well as Department of Health officials for an update as well as other foreign imports entering American Samoa.

Senate President Lolo M. Moliga says there are so many foreign made products imported into the territory that do not meet U.S. regulations pertaining to the labeling of products.
