Chief in Fiji title dispute dies of injuries

One of the claimants to a disputed Fijian chiefly title who was injured in a knife attack on Tuesday night has died in hospital.

Radio Legend reports the man to die was Josateki Cavu, who was claiming the title of Buli Raviravi at Nabouwalu on the island of Vanua Levu.

The other person injured in the knife attack is 64 year old Tevita Nalawa who is in a serious condition at Labasa Hospital.

Six men charged with criminal intimidation and acts to cause grievous bodily harm will appear in court tomorrow.

The radio report says a police team has gone to Nabouwalu to arrest more villagers who were allegedly involved in the murder.

A meeting was taking place at Nabouwalu village on Tuesday night to decide on the rightful claimant to the Buli Raviravi title when another group armed with knives and stones allegedly stormed into the meeting and fighting broke out
