Samoa's top weightlifters who won nine gold medals during the recent 13th South Pacific Games in Apia have gifted two gold medals to the Head of State, Tuiatua Tupua Tamasese Efi, in recognition of his support and tapua'iga for all the athletes who competed in the games.
The three lifters from the Opeloge family, Niusila, Mary and Ele, won three gold each.
They have also been awarded with the highest amount of money from the government, that is about 8,000 US dollars, for winning the top number of gold medals.
The head of state says the medals will be framed and kept in his office for future records and a challenge for the athletes.
