The former Prime Minister in Solomon Islands, Sir Allan Kemakeza has told the inquiry into last year's riots that suspicion over Chinese involvement in the election of Snyder Rini as Prime Minister had sparked anger among the people

The Solomon Island Broadcasting Corporation says that in his affidavit to the inquiry, Sir Allan says Mr Rini and his group were based at the Honiara Hotel, owned by Solomon Islands-Chinese businessman Sir Tommy Chan.

Sir Tommy was also the President of the Association of Independent Members to which Mr Rini belonged.

Sir Allan says the words 'Chinese Government' were put into the people's mouth by those lobbying during the elections.
