The premier of Western Province in Solomon Islands has expressed anger at a cabinet decision to divert 2.2 million US dollars to MPs to manage the reconstruction of houses following last April's tsunami and earthquake.
Alex Lokopio says he fears the disbursement, which he negotiated with the national government, will now not end up with the intended recipients.
The premier says it will be a futile effort once the money is given to members of parliament to manage.
He says he has written to the Prime Minister asking him to revoke the cabinet decision made last Thursday.
