The government of Taiwan has released more than 129,000 US dollars this week to fund two separate government projects in Solomon Islands.

Taiwan Ambassador George Chan announced the approval of the projects during a brief meeting with Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare.

The government earlier this year requested Taiwanese funding for a Small and Medium Enterprise Development Project and the Provincial Tourism Development.

Mr Chan said the Taiwanese government had agreed to allocated almost 50,000 US dollars for SME development project and over 80,000 US for provincial tourism development.

Taiwan's funding assistance came from their 2006 assistance package to support the government projects.
