The French minister in charge of overseas territories has again signalled his readiness to compromise on the reforms planned for French Polynesia.

Christian Estrosi has taken part in a discussion with the assembly in Tahiti which followed his speech that had been boycotted by the territorial government.

He says amendments will be added to the draft text to be passed by the French assembly and the senate in the weeks to come.

French Polynesian leaders again questioned the French plan to hold early elections in January, saying campaigning will coincide with the festive season.
