Football programme shut down in California

10:22 am on 1 November 2007

A football programme at Franklin High School in Stockton, California, has been shutdown because of the Schools decision to play three ineligible players from American Samoa.

The decision was made by the regional board governing high schools in California the Interscholstic Federations after Franklin High ignored an order to bench Vince Maene, Bruce Seumanutafa and Storm MaComber, from American Samoa.

CIF imposed a series of sanctions on Franklin earlier this month for illegally bringing in football players from American Samoa.

CIF shut down the Franklin High football programme for the rest of this and the next two seasons.
