The Pacific Trade and Investment Commission hopes more New Zealand-based Pacific Island business people will invest in the economies of their home countries.

The PITIC is leading a group of ten New Zealand based Pacific Island business people from various fields to Samoa and Tonga this week to encourage them to seek out business there.

Its trade commissioner, Chris Cocker, hopes the mission will be a success.

"After this mission if we have at least one major investment, whether it be in tourism or in the area of ICT or agriculture etc; or even out of this mission [if] we have got someone buying products from here, then I find it successful, depending on the value. But I like to see something out of it to make this whole trip productive."
