Foreign Affairs Minister says no Fiji netballers were denied visas

The Minster of Foreign Affairs, Winston Peters say no visas were denied for members of the Fiji netball team taking part in the World Netball Championships starting in Auckland on Saturday.

The comments come after reports from Fiji saying one of the netball players had been left behind after failing to get a visa to travel to the World Champs in Auckland.

Mr Peters says two members of the squad withdrew their applications so no visa was denied.

Goal shooter Aliti Seru whose husband is a military officer with the Fiji Military Forces was replaced by travelling reserve Lusiana Robonakadavu, who played for Fiji at the recent Pacific Games in Samoa.

Newly appointed coach Elizabeth Freeman says it's unfortunate but the decision was out of their hands.
