Fiji court bails alleged killer of Verebasaga

A Fiji soldier has appeared in the Nausori Magistrate Court charged with the death of Nimilote Verebasaga early this year.

The Fiji Times reports that Maika Vuniwawa of Lomaiviti is alleged to have beaten Mr Verebasaga during an interrogation at the military barracks eight months ago.

Mr Vuniwawa is the sole suspect in the case to date and has been released on bail of 660 US-dollars to remain in the custody of his superiors.

He is due to appear in the Suva High Court on November 30th.
