New Zealand national Ballu Khan is back in Fiji hospital

11:30 am on 17 November 2007

The police interrogation has been suspended and the laying of charges delayed against the New Zealand suspect in the conspiracy to assassinate key government figures in Fiji.

This was after Ballu Khan was taken to Suva Private Hospital from the Criminal Investigation Department headquarters when he complained of chest pains and nausea.

His lawyer, Tevita Fa, said any evidence taken from Mr Khan in his medical condition would not be admissible in court because it would have been obtained under duress.

A New Zealand Queen's Counsel engaged by Mr Khan's family, Peter Williams, says he is in Fiji to ensure that his client's rights are safeguarded.
