The Director of the Oceania Weightlifting Institute, Paul Coffa, has confirmed that he is leaving Samoa at the end of the International Weightlifting Federation World Cup next month.

He told the Samoa Observer he will be moving to New Caledonia and will be taking the institute with him.

Coffa helped Samoa win a record number of gold medals during the recent 13th South Pacific Games in Apia.

However, Coffa was guarded about what he cited as reasons for his departure.

He refused to discuss rumours about personal differences with top names in Weightlifting in Samoa.

Coffa also denied reports that he was leaving because of money.

He said he felt the work that needed to be done had been done.
