Bread prices have increased in Fiji

Bread prices have increased in Fiji as a result of the global wheat shortage.

The price of wheat has gone up by 50 percent since the beginning of the year because of bad weather in Europe and Australia, and increasing demands for bio fuel.

The Fiji Times reports the Prices and Incomes Board as saying that bread prices in the country have not been reviewed since 2003.

A 400 gramme loaf of bread now costs about five cents more.
