American Samoa's Governor furious over plans to take Australian troops out of Iraq

American Samoa's Governor, Togiola Tulafono, has strongly criticised some of the first actions of Australia's newly elected Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd.

Speaking at the funeral of the latest American Samoan soldier killed in Iraq, the governor said he woke up to hear news reports that the new PM had decided to withdraw Australian troops from Iraq.

Togiola said he was upset and angry to hear of the move.

He said the withdrawal of Australian troops from Iraq would mean that the burden of defending freedom in Iraq would fall on American military personnel.
