Petrol in American Samoa is now at its most expensive ever with the wholesale rate up 16 cents a gallon today.
The diesel rate is up 19 cents wholesale, while jet fuel increased inprice by 26 cents.
Etuale Tuileta, the general manager of BP Southwest Pacific says there has been a noticeable drop in consumption and he believes the higher fuel prices are forcing people to conserve.
