A group of rice farmers in the northern division of Fiji have been unable to harvest their farms because of continuous heavy rain over the past two weeks.

The Fiji Times reports farmers in the area are angry, saying continuous pleas of assistance to the Ministry of Agriculture have fallen on deaf ears.

They says crops should have been harvested two weeks ago, but machines are getting bogged down in the soil.

Interim Agriculture Minister, Jainendra Kumar, says earlier he would liase with the Labasa officers to help the farmers.
