A health screening in the Northern Marianas has shown that among participating government employees, only a very small number have normal blood sugar levels and blood pressure.

The Northern Marianas Variety reports that the screening was conducted last month by Marianas Health Services Inc. and its community partners.

It revealed that of 30 participants tested from the governor's office, only three had normal blood pressure.

Nineteen may be pre-hypertensive and eight may be hypertensive.

A federally certified health care provider, Marianas Health Services, screened government employees and private companies in observance of National Diabetes Prevention and Awareness Month in November.

The health screening sessions were conducted at the governor's office, the Department of Labor, the Division of Immigration and the Supreme Court.
