First shipment of scrap metal leaves American Samoa for China

Good Year Corporation's first shipment of scrap metal is scheduled to leave American Samoa today, bound for China.

Samoa News reports that Good Year has filled five containers with scrap metal and is to arrive in China in two weeks time.

This is the first shipment of scrap metal out of the territory.

Good Year was contracted this year to remove the scrap metal.

Company executives Bernard Chu and Allen Law estimates it would cost Good Year about US$2 million to start the scrap metal project.

American Samoa is the very first Pacific endeavor for the Hong-Kong based Good Year, which is a subsidiary of Bel Trade Incorated.
