Samoa police hold two men over alleged hard drugs smuggling

The police in Samoa are investigating the alleged smuggling of methamphetamine or ice into Samoa after the drug was found in a recent police raid.

Two men aged 29 and 22 from the village of Vaoala have been arrested as suspects and are in police custody.

The Police Commissioner, Papalii Lorenese Neru, says 3.3 grams of methamphetamine was found in the possession of the two accused along with ten grams of cannabis.

The police commissioner is appealing to the public to report any information about suspected ilegal drug operations.

Our correspondent says according to sources the drugs are suspected to have been smuggled into Samoa in a parcel sent from the United States.
